I often wonder why amazing movies occasionally are released into the world of DVD without my ever having heard a word about them. I especially wonder this when I realize that a WWII era film starring Keira Knightley and Sienna Miller came out in the last year– and I missed it! Of course, now that I have caught wind of it, I am incredibly inspired by the beautiful costumes and excited to rent the film on iTunes.

Now I will cuddle up under my duvet with a glass of red wine and hopefully love this movie as much as I love the costume design! It will be the perfect end to a hard and disappointing day of job hunting. Please, some one hire me soon!

I am thrilled that I bought cheap, green wellies just the other day for the rainy weather, and now have endless inspiration for wearing them! Girly dress, wool tights, wellies– check, check, check! Goodnight, xoxo!

Holiday!

Yes, that’s what I am on! A holiday! Fall holiday– to be exact. And it feels soooo nice. All I do is sleep, read “The Time Traveler’s Wife”, take long walks, spend time with friends and (Danish) family, eat delicious meals and drink lovely beer and champagne! Yes… this is indeed a holiday at its very finest. I can’t tell you how nice it is to just relax for a whole week… it’s too good for words! Tonight I even had time to see Inglorious Basterds— for the second time!!

Yes. Life is good. Thought I would leave you with this lovely photo of one of the most beautiful Dior gowns I have ever seen. It almost looks like cotton candy! I’m in love. And those red lips! Damn!

Tomorrow night I am attending an art exhibit opening at the Aarhus museum ARoS with my host sister Mette and friend Helle. We can’t wait! I hope art openings are as amazing and posh as I imagine them to be…

These photos from the Stella McCartney Resort 2010 Collection make me desperate for New Years Eve. I am loving the sequins, the black and white ensembles, the black lace jumpsuit…. Stella, you’ve done it again.

Now I am off to town for some studying in a cafe, some thrift store shopping, and some autumn leave collecting. I have a great project planned… I’ll show it to you soon! Xoxo!

I know I’m obsessed, but maaaan, Ashley Olsen is just so effortlessly cool! I am also very stoked about this photo because I recently bought some tights just like hers, and now I can’t wait to wear them with my faux leather skirt and a simple top! So great.

Tour de Chambre.

Ahh… there’s nothing like a good, old fashioned “Tour de Chambre”. Great themes, great roommates, great drinks, great FUN! The evening began with ordering in pizza (of course) followed by a tour of everyones rooms. Each room had a different theme, a different game, and a different drink!

We began the evening by playing a gameshow to get the “Golden Key” to Julie and Sune’s room where Guldol (Gold beer) awaited us.

1920′s Murder Mystery Theme in Tobias’ room… complete with mustaches, latex gloves, and dirty martinis!

Troels: “Yellow is such an under-appreciated color.” Not anymore!!!

Russian Theme!!! Complete with Vodka Russian Roulet and a Russian dance-off! Which, not to brag or anything, but Troels and I totally won.

This is us being super impressed that we a) remembered our choreography, b) didn’t fall down, and c) WON!

This is a picture to prove/document that Tobias looked completely awesome in Zoe’s hat. Hells yes.

Somewhere around room number 5– the Russian Room if I remember correctly– I stopped taking photos. But the next day I woke up with some really amazing memories– and the desire to never get out of bed again. All I could do the whole day was watch Season 1 of “How I Met Your Mother”. Which is, yes, epic. All in all Tour de Chambre was, in the words of Barney, “Legen- wait for it- dary!!!!”

My 21st birthday didn’t start out as I expected it to. I didn’t jump out of bed with glee, or feel that giddy, tingly feeling of excitement that I usually get on very special days. My kitchen mates woke me up with a birthday song and a Danish breakfast at 7.00, and I had a lovely time. But afterwards, I went back to sleep…. which was quite unusual. I usually never want to sleep in on my birthday! I want to enjoy every minute! But that morning I wasn’t my usual self. I woke up with a gray cloud over my head that I couldn’t seem to shake. The kind of gray cloud that you allow to form when you soak up the negative things that other people say and do. The things that you know you shouldn’t internalize, but you just can’t help it. One shouldn’t have this cloud on their birthday! So, I picked myself up, took a long hot shower, put on my favorite Marc by Marc Jacobs blouse and went out to meet Cecilie and shake the cloud. Sure, it was late in the day, but by 5.00, I was finally in the birthday spirit, and I couldn’t have been happier. I was giggling excitedly, and wanted to tell everyone I saw that it was my special day. Apparently all I needed to shake the cloud was one of my bestest girlfriends, a fabulous new birthday dress, and a free birthday ice cream sunday and shot of Jagermeister from the Hard Rock Cafe. It’s the little things, you know? That evening, Cecilie and I cooked a delicious pizza dinner for 13 of my friends, ate ice cream cake and drank nice beers and whiskey. I didn’t go out to clubs all night, or drink until I puked– I was just me. My usual cloud-free self. And it was so, so nice to be back.

This truly may have been my first and last shot of Jager. Ever.

As a favor to me, the bartender even demanded to see our ID after we ordered drinks. He was very convincing too- checking the date, and making sure it was us in the photos. It was so cool to use my ID! It was very sweet of him to oblige me, since the age of 21 is not a very exciting age to reach in a country where you can drink in bars at 18…

I always cry when birthday cake comes– not sure why. This time I was so caught up in the moment I almost forgot to make a wish! Don’t worry though… I made it a good one.

The cake was very, very difficult to cut, but man was it good!

Thank you to all of my friends and family for all of the birthday wishes and love. I don’t know what I would do without the amazing network of lovely people that I have around me. Much love, Xoxo.

Fringe gets caught…

This is the dress that I wore to Cecilie and my 21st birthday party on Friday evening. I have no good photos of me wearing the dress though!

See? You can’t see the fabulous fringe! It was so fun to wear, even though the fringe kept getting caught to my bicycle, and to chairs, and to other people…! I still absolutely loved the dress, and now I want one in this cream color as well:

Maybe I can wear the cream colored one for my actual birthday tomorrow! Hmmmm.

On a non-fashion related note, the last week or so has been absolute madness. Planning and throwing a birthday party, lots of out of town guests to spend time with, my first in-class presentation of the year to prepare…. Phew! It’s been quite an adventure. I can’t believe that tomorrow is my 21st birthday! It is all very surreal. I have pretty simple plans for the big day: class, coffee downtown, dinner and cake with friends, and then perhaps some Danish beer to top it all off. Today however- my last day of being 20- has already been a terrible day! I woke up with a rash all over my arm, broke a bottle of foundation all over my bathroom, spilled juice on my white blouse, slipped in a puddle of water in the kitchen and cut my finger with the bread knife! All before noon! I’m terrified to leave the house to go to class in a few minutes. Eeek– what will happen next?? I think that this is the world’s way of telling me that my year of being 20 is officially over, and that I shouldn’t mourn its passing. It is time for a new year, a new age, a new adventure. Hey, 20 was great, but it’s time for 21. I need to stop holding on to the past simply because it’s there. I need to move forward, into the unknown, into the exciting and sometimes scary future. My life is so much like my fringed dress: beautiful, but always getting caught on something. I don’t want to let go of the past that I am so tightly tied to, but I think I know that it’s time now to really let go.

So, here I come 21! Bring it on.

Old Friends…

Saturday night, Cecilie and I decided to recreate an evening we had almost four years ago by making a quick nighttime visit to our dear old friends— some of our favorite Copenhagen statues! I’ll have to dig up the photos we took with the same statues from so long ago… they were pretty epic. So epic, that we just had to go back for more! After all, Hans Christian Anderson has no cover charge on a Saturday night– and he makes for a pretty great photo shoot!

Rocking out to some J. Timberlake before heading out! Wearing blouse from H&M, vintage necklace as a headband, ballet flats from Urban Outfitters, and DIY cuffed silk shorts made from thrifted old lady pants.
